Tempurpedic vs Amerisleep

Tempurpedic and Amerisleep are two well-known brands of memory foam mattresses. After all, Tempurpedic was the one who created the first memory foam mattresses, and the company has been a major driving force that makes memory foam mattresses so popular now. On the other hand, Amerisleep has been around for a while. It has picked up quite a lot of interest and fame recently. Now, you are probably wondering how Tempurpedic vs Amerisleep compare to each other. You’ve come to the right place! See the comparisons below to determine the best mattress for your money!

Tempurpedic Construction

Tempurpedic does provide a line of coil mattresses – we have discussed about Tempurpedic vs Posturepedic quite a lot before – but the brand is most famous for the memory foam mattresses. Amerisleep only produces memory foam mattresses. Still, there are several important differences that set these Tempurpedic vs Amerisleep apart.

The Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme Breeze mattress is an all-foam mattress that features four layers of foam. It is quite a thick mattress, having a total height of 11.5 inches. The uppermost layer is designed for comfort, composed of visco elastic memory foam with 2” thickness. The layer gives the initial softness feel along with the contouring and hug that Tempurpedic is known for. The second layer is also made of visco elastic memory foam with 2” thickness, but this layer is slightly firmer to provide support and a comfortable transition into the more solid lower layers.

The third layer is 4” thick, composed of polyurethane foam, designed mostly for a transitional layer from the comfort foam layers into the supportive foundation base. Finally, the bottommost layer is 3.5” thick, composed of polyurethane foam. The bottommost layer is dense and strong to provide deep compression support as well as to serve as the base of the mattress.

Amerisleep Construction

On the other hand, Amerisleep is a little bit thicker. The total height is 12”. However, this mattress is quite simpler, as the mattress features only three foam layers. The uppermost layer is for cooling and comfort. It is 3” thick, and is composed of the proprietary Bio-Pur foam. It has been designed to help pull heat away to allow a cooler sleeping surface. It also has great comfort and pressure relief. The second layer is 2” thick, made of poly foam, acting as a support layer as well as a transitional layer from the soft top to the solid base. The third layer is 7” thick, composed of the proprietary Bio-Core support foam for deep compression support and foundational support.

Cover

Now, let’s see the comparisons between the covers of Tempurpedic vs Amerisleep. Tempurpedic’s cover is very nice. It is soft and pleasant to touch, and is able to breathe well. It is quite thin. So, don’t worry about the cover retaining heat. The cover is made of 94% polyester and 6% spandex, creating a nice stretchiness that helps the cover to snap back to its neat shape after compressed.

In terms of appearance, the cover is definitely one of the high-class choices. The diamond pattern on the white color scheme is sweet, while the blue piping and gray lining add a sleek, elegant look.

On the other hand, Amerisleep boasts a unique cover that is made from 21% Celliant, 2% spandex, and 77% polyester. Celliant is a very interesting material; it is composed of thermo-reactive minerals, designed to transform the user’s body heat into infrared light that can increase blood flow and sleep comfort. It has been clinically tested and proven for effectiveness and safety. However, it may feel a little bit hotter than Tempurpedic due to these Celliant minerals. But it is comfortable nonetheless. The usage of spandex adds some breathability and elasticity.

Performance

So, how do Tempurpedic vs Amerisleep mattresses compare in terms of performance? Turns out that Tempurpedic provides more pronounced contouring. It is able to absorb the user’s weight gradually, creating deeper sinkage with slower response times. It has medium firmness. At first, you may notice roughly 2” of sinkage. After 20 seconds, you will have sunk an inch deeper. And it performs an excellent job in balancing the sinkage. Not only the heavier parts of the body, but also the head and lighter limbs can receive a degree of sinkage. As the result, it can give great pressure relief and spinal alignment.

On the other hand, Amerisleep responds more dramatically to the sleeper’s body weight. It also has medium firmness. While it indeed gives good pressure relief, the sinkage may vary depending on the user’s weight and type. Heavier sleepers will certainly sink deeper, even though the mattress is still supportive enough thanks to the thick comfort layers. It also gives consistent spinal alignment. The Amerisleep mattress tends to push back slightly to the user’s body, so it is great for those who enjoy deep sinkage and hug but don’t want to feel trapped or enveloped.

Since both are medium-firmness mattresses, they are not very suitable for people who sleep on their stomach. If you lie on your stomach on either of these two mattresses, you will find that your body curves to uncomfortable angles. They are best for back and side sleepers.

Warranty

Finally, we also need to check the warranties offered by these mattresses. Besides that it is your protection against a defective product, it also indicates the manufacturer’s confidence in their product’s quality and durability. Tempurpedic has a 10-year warranty. Even though there is a 30-night trial period, you are not allowed for refunds. You are only allowed to change to another model.

Amerisleep provides a longer trial period and warranty. You are given 100 days for trial, and the warranty period is 20 years.
